Create Your Own 4th of July Cake
Make a Spectacular Display With this Fourth of July Cake!
First start with an out standing cake recipe. I recommend using a pound cake for this 4th of July cake. It will help hold the decorations and stand up to the heat and transport. If you need a simple Fourth of July Cake this Flag Sheet Cake might be the perfect solution for your party.
Next you will need your favorite butter cream frosting. Today you can simply pick up ready made butter cream in your bakery at the local grocery store or make your own. Just remember when making your butter cream frosting to use clear vanilla so the frosting is not an off white color.

If you want to impress your friends and family why not try your hand at making a 4th of July Cake. This is a round cake with fondant stars and flag, and butter cream frosting. In the first video you will learn what decorating supplies you need as well as learn some ticks and tricks so your cake turns out to be the hit of the party.
In Video Two – Cut and Level your cake. Learn all about how to trim and cut the layer of your fourth of july cake using a serrated knife. This is a very important step. If you make sure your cake is level on all sides your decorating will be much easier.
In Video Three – Learn to add the Ganache. Ganache is an icing made from chocolate and cream. This will help level the cake. You will need to let the ganahce firm up in the refrigerator. After the cake has firmed up go a head and finish leveling the sides of your cake.
Video Four helps you decide how to smooth and level your cake. Make sure you have a serrated knife on hand to do the leveling so not to tear the cake.
Video Five talks to you about frosting the cake. Remember that your first layer of cake frosting is called a scratch coat, it is there to help keep the crumbs in place and to make a smooth area so the top layer of frosting turns out smooth.

Watch in video seven as she finishes frosting the second layer of the cake and attaches it to the first layer. Make sure that you layer the top layer of the cake so that it will sit nicely on the first layer.
In Video Eight you will learn how to apply frosting Rosettes and Stars. You will need a star tip. These rosettes and stars will cover the seam between the layers of the cake. You may want to practice on wax paper so you don’t mess up your cake. Rosettes are easy to do. Just hold your pastry bag vertical, apply pressure to the bag and as you squeeze out the frosting rotate the bag making a small circle, when it is large enough just pull up the bag to stop the frosting.
Video nine show you how to finish up frosting the cake by adding trims using your frosting.
